Yakima City Councilmen Micah Cawley and Bill Lover share their experiences in elected city offices with students at the 2008 Evergreen Boys State program. The two talked about the committees they serve on and chair, as well as challenges they face in their jobs.
Students also question the pair about issues ranging from how they balance demands of people who donate money to their campaigns, to whether cities should mandate recycling, to how elected politicians attract support from voters of different ethnicities and age brackets.
At the end, the pair was presented with 2008 Evergreen Boys State T-shirts as a token of appreciation for presenting to the program.
