The 2024 Evergreen Boys State City Problem Panelists

Evergreen Boys State was proud to host several distinguished individuals from around the community to sit as a panel of judges and listen to presentations from the Mayors and City Council regarding their resolutions to the problems presented to their cities.

Nicolas Kadir Jensen
(EBS & Staff Alumni)

Nicolas Kadir Jensen is a proud fifth-generation Washingtonian with a passion for service and a knack for getting things done. Currently, Nicolas serves on the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation Board of Directors and as the Vice Chair of the Snohomish County Boundary Review Board. Previously, Nicolas raised over $1.4 million for small nonprofits, helped nearly 20,000 Washingtonians access healthcare under the Affordable Care Act, and chaired the board of the largest Queer health agency in Western Canada. They were also a 2023 Institute for a Democratic Future Fellow, and they are an alum of the Washington State Labor Council’s Path to Power program. Today, Nicolas lends their expertise as a community engagement consultant on transportation and infrastructure projects, working to ensure people have a say in how their community grows and changes. Nicolas holds a degree in Political Science from Western Washington University and a Master’s in Public Policy & Global Affairs from the University of British Columbia.

Sam Herriot

Sam Herriot (they/them) grew up in Southwest Washington on their family’s wheat farm and studied English, rhetoric and composition at Washington State University before moving to the Puget Sound region in 2017. They’ve had the privilege of working in local, state, and federal government roles, and currently serves as Government Relations Liaison for the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges. When not practicing political science, Sam enjoys spending time with their partner and pets and traveling the world.”

Steve Larson

Steven (Steve) Larson is an American Legion member at Post 76, Arlington. He works as a Manufacturing Engineering Planner at Boeing, also is School Board Director at Lakewood School District #306.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at CWU. He as Project Management and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certificates from University of Washington. Also has a FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) License. He is also an Eagle Scout.

He currently lives in Arlington, WA with his wife Brenda and their dog, Jake.
